Appearing to not be programmed with any particular back story of his own, Rancis would simply be one of the fifteen official racers in the game Sugar Rush Speedway. Unlike a majority of his many racers, however, he would have a few speaking lines.
He would first appear in Wreck-It Ralph when giving King Candy, the ruler of the kingdom within Sugar Rush Speedway, his coin to participate in the race that would determine whether or not he would appear on the game's roster the next day. The typically smooth procedure was interrupted when a glitch within the game, Vanellope von Schweetz, showed up with a coin of her own that would promise her a spot in the roster race. Glitches were not allowed to race by order of King Candy and it was ordered that she be arrested.
However, a distraction would allow Vanellope to get away from the track and the other racers would follow her to the junk yard. Acting rather closely to Taffyta Muttonfudge and Candlehead, Rancis would stand by with a smirk as Vanellope would introduce her own made kart that she would use to compete in the race. The racers, including Rancis, would proceed to destroy Vanellope's kart to prevent her from racing. The cruel enjoyment would be short lived as Wreck-It Ralph from the game Fix-It Felix Jr. went to Vanellope's rescue and scared the racers off.
The climax of the film would be the cue for Rancis to return to the screen with the roster race going underway. Rancis was shown to be able to get through obstacles of the race all the while glancing into the rear view mirror to look at himself. Things proceeded to only go downhill during the race for Rancis when Vanellope ended up in front of Rancis which surprised him. The result would have Rancis crash his Kit Kart into ice cream along with Taffyta and Candlehead.
Because of an on going plot concerning the game Hero's Duty and the main character, Ralph, Cy-Bugs would begin to take over the Sugar Rush game. King Candy would end up fusing with one of the creatures, after being revealed to be Turbo from TurboTime, threatening true destruction of the racing game. Rancis would flee from the game to safety. With Turbo's defeat as well as the Cy-Bugs, Vanellope would cross the finishing line and win the roster race.
Vanellope's victory restored the Sugar Rush kingdom as well as the coding in the memories of the characters. Rancis would remember Vanellope's true identity as princess as well as the main character of the game and would be quick to saying that his harsh treatment from earlier was merely a joke. He would then soon be crying on his knees with Vanellope making a decree of execution upon all of those who were mean to her. It would quickly be revealed to be a joke and Vanellope would declare that the Sugar Rush kingdom go under a form of democracy.
After the events of Wreck-It Ralph followed One Sweet Race, it would be revealed that Rancis had never won a race. He was made fun of by the other racers and despite pretending he did not care it drove Rancis to sell all of his belongings to afford the 'sweetest' kart. Rancis would show up to the race the next day with a new kart to replace the Kit Kart but because of his inability to control the kart it led Rancis to lose the race. The now President Vanellope would then come to his aid to assist him in baking a new kart. The process went well and Rancis would entitle his new kart RV1, for Rancis and Vanellope, and would ride off to finally win himself a race.

As far as this racer is concerned, he is the finest thing he has ever seen. Rancis Fluggerbutter makes use of his rear view mirror on his Kit Kart for more than racing but to also make sure his own appearance is in order even in the middle of a race. It is a priority on Rancis' book to assure himself that he is looking his best and accepts no less. Rancis may be found adjusting his clothes and fixing his hair in public, appearing not to care if others take a gander; he wants to look good for himself.
His appearances are not able to always keep him distracted and pleased as he seems to have somewhat of a weak ego when it comes to his own ability in a kart. Rancis, even with his pretending, is not able to ignore the other racers' mocking his racing skills. It is enough to dishearten him and even have him pay little notice to his physical appearance, causing tears. This may show the potential serious side to him as racing is meant to be part of him. It drives him to take such things seriously more so than races being a mere game.
Rancis' dedication goes beyond simply taking care of his looks. He is a determined boy, overall, always reaching for whatever goal he has in mind. Not all desires are good, which include the in film attempt to sabotage Vanellope's ability to race. However, he is able to look away from the mirror for a moment to urge his promised ability of handling a kart to win a race. There is also the fact that he has even sold all of his things away to achieve his goal of winning a race. It is all or nothing for this racer.
When things aren't all gloomy and tables are turned, that ego may be fed. An egotistical smirk is worn often by this boy as he stands by and finds other people to be somewhat amusing when things seem simplistic enough. Such instances come by when there is a possibility of humiliation. This may be the cause of him being around Taffyta Muttonfudge as she is easily able to talk one down and have all the work be done.
